My Newest Encaustic Photo Transfer

I shot the original image with my Polaroid SX70 land camera using Polaroid Times Zero film that would let you manipulate the film before the image was completely developed.  I scanned the finished image and printed it on Epson Matte Paper with Epson inks, then photocopied it using a xerox color printer.

I poured melted beeswax medium on the wood cradle and then place the printed image facedown onto the warm layer of beeswax and burnished it into the wax, then poured water over the image and covered it with a web cloth for about 15 minutes.

I then very carefully began to remove the paper, leaving the image transferred onto the beeswax medium. Using a heat gun I fused the image into the wax and brushed a light layer of beeswax medium over the top to protect the image and then painted the sides of the cradle black.
Image size: 12" x 16" x2".
